YTS Program President’s Volunteer Service Award

The Youth Transportation Safety (YTS) Program is proud to be an official certifying organization for the President’s Volunteer Service Award (PVSA). YTS program members can earn this prestigious award by submitting their fulfilled volunteer hours by April 15th each year.

About the President’s Volunteer Service Award (PVSA)

In 2003, the President’s Council on Service and Civic Participation founded the President’s Volunteer Service Award to honor individuals whose volunteer service positively impacts communities and inspires others to take action. The PVSA is managed by AmeriCorps and Points of Light and allows Certifying Organizations to recognize their most exceptional volunteers.

Eligibility Requirements

The recipient(s) must:

  • Be a member of a YTS program school (Teens in the Driver Seat Jr. High, Teens in the Driver Seat, or U in the Driver Seat).
  • Be a United States citizen or lawful permanent resident.
  • Complete and submit the sign-up form below.
  • Perform community service hours within the 12-month period.
  • Submit the Completion Form and YTS Volunteer TimeTracker sheet with completed service hours by April 15th.
  • Awards are issued for volunteer service only. Court-ordered community service does not qualify.

Steps to Earning the PVSA

The YTS PVSA service year runs from April 1 – March 31.

  • Complete the YTS Sign-up Form to express your interest.
  • Track your volunteer hours by recording them in the YTS Volunteer TimeTracker sheet.
  • Participate in volunteer activities. At least 25% of your volunteer hours must be related to a YTS program or traffic safety.
  • Submit the Completion Form, where you will upload the YTS Volunteer TimeTracker sheet, for verification. Ensure all entries are accurate and verified by a supervisor.
  • Once your hours are verified, qualified recipients will receive the official President’s Volunteer Service Award pin, a personalized certificate of achievement, and a letter signed by the current president.

How to Track Your Volunteer Hours

Tracking your volunteer hours is essential for receiving the PVSA recognition and awards. Please ensure that you are properly and accurately tracking all hours. To help you track your hours, please download and use the YTS Volunteer TimeTracker.
